Bestselling author Michael Crichton died of cancer on Tuesday, November 4, 2008.
The Harvard Medical School graduate and author of Jurassic Park was the recipient of numerous honors, including having an anklylosaur dinosaur named after him: the Crichtonsaurus bohlini.
Crichton also received an Emmy and a Peabody Award for the TV show ER, which he created, the Edgar Allan Poe Award from the Mystery Writers of America, and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Technical Achievement Award.
