 Donald Edwin Westlake (1933 - 2008) was best known for his audaciously comic crime novels, including Baby, Would I Lie? Winner of three Edgars and an Oscar nominee, he was the author of more than 70 novels written under his own name and the pseudonyms Richard Stark and Tucker Coe. In 1993 Westlake was named Grand Master of the Mystery Writers of America, the highest honor bestowed by the society, in recognition of his superb contributions to the genre.
